All Blacks thrash Argentina (+ other sports news from this weekend & my final blog of 2020)

Well, what a weekend of sport this has been but 1st in the rugby that it was the proud Hawke's Bay union led by Highlander Ash Dixon (Who was once a Hurricanes player in 2014) who came out on top against Northland at McLean Park in Napier to win promotion into the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership next year for the 1st time since 2016 (They beat Wellington in the ITM Cup Championship final way back in 2015) from the Championship on Friday then in the cricket that the Black Caps secure a phenomenal victory (Including that wonderful performance by New Zealand pace bowler Lockie Ferguson as he becomes the 2nd Black Cap to achieve a 5 wicket haul in the T20 international format (1st it was Tim Southee against Pakistan 10 years ago before Ferguson now) for NZ) against the West Indies in the 1st T20 at Eden Park in Auckland (The eyes of the yachting world will be on Auckland as the city plays host to the America's Cup series early next year which is the next major sporting event before the summer Olympic games in Tokyo, Japan (It was delayed this year because of COVID-19), the Euro 2020 soccer tournament throughout Europe (Also delayed as well this year due to COVID) as well as possibly the British & Irish Lions rugby union tour to South Africa if it goes ahead (It could be cancelled as a result of the corona virus) & the Rugby League World Cup in England) on the same day to go 1 - 0 up in the 3 match T20 series & snap a 7 game losing streak (It was England twice last year then India 5 times earlier this year) before back to the rugby when the David Havili led Tasman brushed Auckland aside at the same ground at Eden Park yesterday to successfully defend & retain the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership that they won last year against Wellington in Nelson denying Auckland a chance to win an 18th New Zealand provincial rugby crown & regain the title that they won in 2018 against Canterbury in front of their adoring home fans but the main sporting headlines this weekend was the All Blacks (Coached by Ian Foster who managed to save his job with a win) return to winning ways (And normal service has resumed after a miraculous victory for New Zealand like this) as they thrash Argentina by 38 points as well as they exact payback/revenge/utu after losing to them on the 14th of November (And it was a reversal of the previous result that the Argentinians had made rugby history in a historic upset win for the ages & what a turnaround for the AB's to win a test match like this & they snap a 2 match losing streak (Back to back losses against Australia in Brisbane including that yellow card by All Black second rower Scott Barrett which cost us the game (After Ofa Tu'ungafasi (Who had to serve a 3 match ban as a result of a red card for a high tackle (Dangerous tackle) on ex-Manly Sea Eagles rugby league player Tom Wright) got sent off early in the same match along with Wallaby Lachlan Swinton (Who was suspended for 4 matches for a head high tackle/high shot (I mean he did the same as Tu'ungafasi did) on All Black second rower Sam Whitelock) & Argentina in Sydney as I mentioned before) but they haven't won the Tri Nations title (They led the standings on points difference before going into that match last night but the last match of the Tri Nations is between Argentina & Australia at Bankwest Stadium (The site that Argentina claimed their 1st win against the AB's) in Sydney but Australia need to win the game by 101 points to claim the Tri Nations title compared to Argentina who'll want to win the match by 93 points but we won the Tri Nations title after the final Tri Nations match between Argentina & the Wallabies had ended in another draw (Well, the Wallabies have had 3 matches drawn this year, 1 against the All Blacks in Wellington then Argentina not once but twice in both Newcastle & Sydney) at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney) so here is the match commentary provided from Newshub:

Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Tri Nations clash between New Zealand and Argentina from Sydney.

Two weeks ago, the Pumas shocked the rugby world - and the All Blacks in particular - with their historic first-ever win over the perennial world No.1 team.

If anything, the 25-15 scoreline flattered the Kiwis and since then, the team and nation have searched their souls for reasons to continue living.

Captain Sam Cane has drawn the most reaction, with his comments that All Blacks fans can be "brutal' - and he's dead right, but that's just an occupational hazard and you need think skin if you want to wear the black jersey. It's not a bulletproof vest.

Coach Ian Foster has also drawn heat for his winning only twice in his first five tests at the helm, but has responded by making only three changes to the starting XV for this match.

Nepo Laulala replaces Tyrel Lomax at prop, Scott Barrett will take Patrick Tuipulotu's spot in the second row and Akira Ioane gets a second chance at blindside flanker, replacing Shannon Frizell.

Barrett is back from the doghouse, after his late yellow card cost the All Blacks victory against Australia three weeks ago, while Ioane makes his second test start - he was the unlucky man to make way for a replacement prop, after Ofa Tuungafasi was red-carded early in that same match.

All Blacks: 1-Joe Moody , 2-Dane Coles, 3-Nepo Laulala, 4-Scott Barrett, 5-Samuel Whitelock, 6-Akira Ioane , 7-Sam Cane (c), 8-Ardie Savea, 9-Aaron Smith, 10-Richie Mo'unga, 11-Caleb Clarke , 12-Jack Goodhue, 13-Anton Lienert-Brown, 14-Jordie Barrett, 15-Beauden Barrett

Reserves: 16- Codie Taylor, 17-Karl Tu'inukuafe, 18-Tyrel Lomax, 19-Patrick Tuipulotu, 20-Hoskins Sotutu, 21-TJ Perenara, 22-Rieko Ioane, 23-Will Jordan

Argentina: 1-Mayco Vivas,, 2-Julian Montoya, 3-Santiago Medrano, 4-Guido Petti, 5-Lucas Paulos, 6-Pablo Matera (c), 7-Marcos Kremer, 8-Facundo Isa, 9-Felipe Ezcurra, 10-Nicolas Sanchez, 11-Santiago Cordero, 12-Jerónimo De La Fuente, 13- Juan Cruz Mallia, 14- Ramiro Moyano, 15-Emiliano Boffelli

Reserves: 16-Santiago Socino, 17-Nahuel Tetez Chaparro, 18-Luca Sordoni, 19-Matias Alemanno, 20-Santiago Grondona, 21-Gonzalo Bertranou, 22-Santiago Carreras, 23-Lucas Mensa

8:53PM: Just a reminder that New Zealand can still claim the Tri Nations title with a big win tonight. They currently lead the standings on points differential.

Sam Cane has won the toss and the All Blacks will kick off.

9:15PM: 31 degrees C in Newcastle at the moment. Great day to head to the beach, but what affect will that have on the rugby?

9:22PM: Argentina coach Mario Ledesma has named 10 changes to the side that beat the All Blacks two weeks ago, but he hasn't sacrificed quality.

9:36PM: Prop Joe Moody will play his 50th game for the All Blacks tonight.

They may have underplayed their hand at the last meeting with the traditional 'Ka mate' challenge. Clearly, Argentina deserve the full treatment this time...

9:40PM: First big question of the night: which haka will the All Blacks employ?

Yes, the All Blacks are rolling out 'Kapa O Pango' for their opponents - they really mean business tonight.

9:47PM: Sam Cane presents the Pumas with an All Blacks jersey emblazoned with the name 'Maradona', a show of respect for the Argentinian football star that passed away this week.

9:49PM: 33 degress C at kickoff. Scheduled drink breaks every 20 minutes will now not happen, but it's hot!

KICK OFF: Beauden Barrett fields the clearing kick and Clarke gets an early run.

1ST MINUTE: Beaudy kicking off and Argentina seek to exit their own 22.

2ND MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SCRUM: Jordie finally finds touch for a Pumas lineout on their side of halfway. They knock on after a long throw over the back.

4TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Smith to feed the first scrum of the match, this could be a defining moment.

PENALTY: The scrum is taking some time to set. Savea off the back, finds Clarke and Pumas are penalized at the scrum.

6TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), PENALTY MISS: Jordie lines up a penalty attempt at goal from about 45m out, but pushes it to the right.

All Blacks win a lineout and build phases in midfield.

7TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Goodhue puts a high kick up and Jordie chases hard to catch the Pumas defender outside the 22.

8TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Mo'unga kicks laterally to Jordie on the wing, but he's smashed into touch as he reaches high for the ball.

9TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): All Blacks win a lineout on the 22 and build pressure in the red zone. They're playing under advantage.

10TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), TMO REFERRAL: Beaudy chases Mo'unga's kick to the goal-line and touches down, but ref Nic Berry calls it a no-try on the field. Replays show Lienert-Brown has knocked backwards in mid-air, but Beaudy loses the ball before he can force it.

NO TRY: No try and advantage had ended, so Pumas get a scrum 5 metres out.

11TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Good All Blacks scrum have the Pumas under pressure and Cane is up quickly on his opposite.

Argentina try to clear, but only as far as the 22.

13TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), TRY ALL BLACKS: Dane Coles

All Blacks build pressure, Clarke makes a powerful burst up midfield and when the ball goes right, Mo'unga floats a long pass to Coles on the wing and he has too much gas for the final defender.

CONVERSION: Mo'unga attempts the conversion from near touch and slots it (NZ 7-0).

15TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Beaudy clears from the 22, finding touch just inside the NZ 10.

16TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Sanchez fumbles the ball and Akira Ioane snaffles the ball to spark an attack. Beaudy kicks to the corner for Jordie, but the ball eludes him.

PENALTY: Berry was playing advantage and brings them back for an All Blacks penalty.

17TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY GOAL: Mo'unga slots the penalty from in front and the NZ lead is double figures (NZ 10-0).

18TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Sanchez kicks off and Clarke loses track of it in flight. The ball finds touch near the corner, NZ throw.

SCRUM: All Blacks win the lineout, but are held up in the maul. Pumas scrum just 5m out.

19TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Another big push from the All Blacks disrupts the scrum and they hold an early edge. Scrum reset.

20TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY: Another big shove from the All Blacks buckles the Pumas and they win a clearing penalty. Those forwards are breathing fire tonight.

22ND MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Sanchez kicks towards the corner, but it rolls dead in goal, so All Blacks' ball way back beyond halfway.

23RD MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): All Blacks trying to overpower another scrum.

24TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): After the reset, they push again and win a penalty advantage.

The ball goes left and Clarke tries to outflank the Pumas defence, but trips a couple of metres from the line and clips the touchline as he slides over.

25TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY: Pumas win a lineout on their line and almost make a hash of it, but Akira Ioane is called for a high tackle (Dangerous tackle).

26TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): All Blacks are contesting the lineouts tonight and Pumas barely win a throw on their 10. Clarke takes a high kick beautifully.

27TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY: ALB is up quickly to tackle his man and knock the ball loose, but Jordie is penalized when his follow-up tackle slips high.

28TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SCRUM: Pumas win a lineout in the NZ half and mount an attack. They're finding no way through the All Blacks defence and Boffelli knocks on in Coles' tackle.

29TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): All Blacks dominate another scrum and Smith sprints upfield to mount an attack.

30TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Mo'unga tries to find Jordie with another lateral kick, but the Pumas pounce on the loose ball. Coles tidies up a speculative kick.

31ST MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SCRUM: Pumas win an attacking lineout and start to maul towards the line, but when the ball comes free, they knock on again.

From the scrum, Beaudy kicks deep and gets it back again for a mark.

33RD MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), PENALTY: All Blacks steal a lineout through Ioane and earn a penalty advantage for a head high tackle/high shot.

Jordie kicks for touch and All Blacks have a lineout inside the Pumas 10.

34TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Beaudy straightens and is tackled on the 22. Phases building.

35TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): After 15 phases, Beaudie puts a little chip over the defence for ALB to chase, but Cordero rises high to claim the ball.

37TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Mo'unga puts up a high kick inside the Pumas 22 - it's knocked on, but no call and the Argentinians clear.

38TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Ioane wins a lineout for the All Blacks and the forwards maul inside the 22, winning penalty advantage.

40TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Mo'unga lines up a kick at goal from just left of the uprights, just outside the 22, but hits the post. Sanchez clears and the All Blacks will have one last crack from a lineout.

Whitelock wins the throw, Clarke makes a break up centre field and the forwards take over.

Laulala has the ball knocked loose and Matera hacks forward. Pumas come streaming through, but Jordie dives on the loose ball and the All Blacks find touch to end the half.

HALFTIME

All Blacks have dominated the contest, but are only 10 points ahead at the break. They'll be ruing missed opportunities to extend that advantage and if Argentina score next, they're back in the game.

41ST MINUTE: Argentina work a brilliant move off an early lineout, but Akira Ioane creates a turnover and the All Blacks have a chance to clear.

43RD MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): All Blacks have a lineout in Argentina territory and Ioane wins again.

PENALTY: Savea sets ALB loose towards the line, Beaudie and Cane are dragged down short, and Nic Berry blows a penalty. NZ take a five-metre scrum.

46TH MINUTE (3 MINUTES LATER): Several scrum resets needed. Pumas have their backs to the wall.

47TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SCRUM: Savea charges off the back fo the scrum, but is dragged down short. Pumas defence is good, and they push Mo'unga towards touch and he loses the ball forward.

49TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Big scrum from the All Blacks and Smith is meancing No.8 Facundo, but Pumas clear as far as Clarke.

50TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Ioane and Cane charge towards the line, but when the ball is cleared, Smith's pass to Clarke is spilt on the line.

51ST MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY: Another big scrum wins another All Blacks penalty on the goal-line. They'll take a lineout this time.

52ND MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), TRY ALL BLACKS: Ardie Savea

CONVERSION: Scott Barrett rises high to claim the throw and Savea runs off the back of the lineout - Pumas can't keep him out. Mo'unga converts (NZ 17-0).

54TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), SUBSTITUTION: Rieko Ioane has come on for Lienert-Brown in the midfield.

55TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY: Boffelli runs onto a bouncing ball on the All Blacks side of halfway, but the Pumas are penalized at the breakdown/ruck.

SUBSTITUTION: Pumas replace both props, so maybe their scrum will improve.

56TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SUBSTITUTION: All Blacks match the front row replacements, with Tu'inukuafe and Lomax replacing Moody and Laulala.

59TH MINUTE (3 MINUTES LATER): Argentina have made 115 tackles tonight, the All Blacks 23.

PENALTY & SUBSTITUTION: Argentina win a scrum penalty, but they were still struggling. Codie Taylor replaces Coles, TJ Perenara is on for Smith.

60TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SCRUM: Pumas launch an attack out right, but when they come left, they knock on again. Good pressure from NZ.

62ND MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), SCRUM: Scrums are socking up considerable time as the match progresses. Argentina struggle to exit their half and when they do, another knock-on.

SUBSTITUTION: Patrick Tuipulotu is on the park for Whitelock.

63RD MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SUBSTITUTION: Sanchez has also left the field for Argentina, so they may struggle to come back from here. He's scored all their points so far in this competition.

64TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY: Jordie and Savea are quickly on Boffelli, who is penalized for not releasing (Holding on). Mo'unga kicks to the corner for a lineout.

65TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Barrett wins another lineout, but when Mo'unga kicks a cross field for Clarke, the ball goes into touch.

SUBSTITUTION: Clarke leaves, Will Jordan gets his second cap.

66TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), SUBSTITUTION: Sotutu replaces Akira Ioane, so all the NZ reserves are on.

Mo'unga chips behind the advancing defence, but Pumas tidy up and clear.

67TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): All Blacks have 80 percent territory, 69 percent possession for the game.

PENALTY: Jordie charges towards the posts, but Mo'unga is caught awkwardly with the ball and Pumas win a clearing penalty.

68TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), TRY ALL BLACKS: Will Jordan

Argentina have a lineout inside NZ half, but when they win it, the ball goes loose in midfield. Jordan simply swoops on it and runs 40m unopposed to score.

CONVERSION: Mo'unga converts (NZ 24-0).

70TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), TRY ALL BLACKS: Will Jordan

From the kickoff, Argentina again try to construct an attack in midfield, but Jordan is up quickly on Carreras, reading his pass and intercepting to sprint away again.

CONVERSION: That could be the try that seals the Tri Nations. Mo'unga converts (NZ 31-0).

75TH MINUTE (5 MINUTES LATER), PENALTY: All Blacks play under a penalty advantage for offside, Beaudy kicks to touch and Nic Berry brings them back. Mo'unga kicks to the corner.

76TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): All Blacks win the lineout, Savea, Sotutu and Tu'inukuafe charge towards the line, before the prop is held up. Five-metre scrum.

80TH MINUTE (4 MINUTES LATER): After the scrum finally sets, Sotutu charges off the back and the All Blacks lay siege to the line.

TMO REFERRAL, PENALTY & YELLOW CARD: After the siren, Rieko Ioane lunges at the goal-line - he doesn't look confident, but officials have spotted a high hit from Lomax earlier and issue a yellow card.

80TH MINUTE + 1ST MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), PENALTY: NZ are now a man down, Carreras finds touch, Pumas win the lineout and another penalty.

80TH MINUTE + 3RD MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER): Another lineout on halfway and the Pumas forwards maul. As they try to build phases, Mensa clears Cane from the breakdown/ruck area by flipping/tipping him over.

PENALTY: That's a penalty, but Taylor charges for some pushing and shoving by causing a scuffle - and the penalty is reversed.

80TH MINUTE + 4TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER), TRY ALL BLACKS: Patrick Tuipulotu

Argentina attack breaks down and All Blacks counter. Jordan bursts/charges/surges through a gap/hole and eventually Rieko Ioane finds his Blues captain, who lopes 20 metres to score.

CONVERSION: Nice way to cap a convincing bounce back performance. Mo'unga converts (NZ 38-0).

So that is my 380th blog of the year 2020 (MMXX) & my 40th of this year.

P.S. And well, it all comes down to this because I have announced that this is going to by my last ever blog of 2020 (And I have done 40 blogs so far this year (Same as it was in 2016 before I did a record 100 in 2017 & 80 in both 2018 & last year) & what a way to end a year like this) as I take a self imposed break until January next month after the Christmas-New Year period so thanks so much & have a very good Christmas & a happy new year (And stay safe out there during the pandemic we had this year (It all began last year when the very 1st case of COVID had happened in Wuhan, China at a fish market) but finally I would like to say thanks to my whole friends & whanau such as Pops, my dog Buck, Dad, Jansen, Raewyn, Aunty Tania, Rejean, Uncle Bryan, Aunty Viv, Leon Benbaruk, Sophia Ong, Kathryn, Ken Branch, Ben Blain, Ben's girlfriend Robina, Carole Webb, Carole's son Andy, Andy's wife Kelsey, Carole's brother Zaki, Zaki's wife Aysha, Wairaka (Or Wai), Matt Pine as well as Mum for all my support, thank you...As we will see you all in 2021.

And in sports news that I have missed just come in this month during the month of December just before Christmas (I went to the Christmas parade here in Whanganui last Saturday along with Pops) such as the England rugby team coached by former Brumbies, Wallaby & Japan rugby team coach Eddie Jones completing the rare double of winning both the Six Nations & the Autumn Nations Cup (They easily beat France in the Autumn Nations Cup final at Twickenham) then the Black Caps win both the T20 & Test series against the West Indies (It was 2 - 0 in the T20 series (Lockie Ferguson picking up a 5 wicket haul in the 1st T20 at Eden Park in Auckland a day before Tasman retained the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership title against Auckland then a day later it was Glenn Philips scoring a century in the 2nd T20 in Tauranga) after the 3rd T20 had been washed out in Tauranga & it was 2 - 0 also in the test series (It was in the 1st test in Hamilton that man of the match & New Zealand captain Kane Williamson scored a double ton followed by Henry Nicholls (Brother of Black Caps media manager Willy) who scored a century in the 2nd test in Wellington as well as the big tall bowler who used to be an opening batter during his 1st XI secondary school days, Kyle Jamieson (Who was named player of the series) & wily old veteran & experienced pace bowler Tim Southee both getting 5 wicket hauls in the 1st innings but man of the match went to Nicholls for his impressive ton) as well as the Maori All Blacks claim a win against the newly formed Moana Pasifika team in our last rugby match of the year here in New Zealand (The rugby season is now over because the cricket season had already started) at FMG Stadium Waikato in Hamilton then in all of a sudden, the draw for the 2023 Rugby World Cup has been revealed so here is the list of rugby nations who are in the pool stages of the 2023 tournament:

Pool A

New Zealand, France (Host nation), Italy, Americas 1 & Africa 1

Pool B (AKA pool of death)

South Africa (Defending champion), Ireland, Scotland, Asia/Pacific 1 & Europe 2

Pool C

Wales, Australia, Fiji, Europe 1 & Qualifier winner

Pool D

England, Japan, Argentina, Oceania 1 & Americas 2

Well, to start with after the All Blacks had drawn pool A along with hosts France (The only country to have appeared in all 3 Rugby World Cup finals but never won all of them (1st it was New Zealand twice in 1987 & 2011 & Australia in 1999), Italy (We're going to face the Italians again after we thought we're going to play against them last year at the Rugby World Cup but it had to be cancelled as a result of the typhoon in Japan but 2007 was they last time New Zealand played against Italy (Who will meet the French for the 2nd time at a Rugby World Cup (Their 1st since 2015) at a RWC), Americas 1 & Africa 1 that I was like 'Oh my goodness!' But we have a rich history between the 2 rugby nations & our 1st meeting at a Rugby World Cup was in the 1987 RWC final at Eden Park in Auckland in which we totally dominated the match (Including tries from famous All Blacks such as Michael Jones (Father of Auckland rugby player Niko who the Iceman named his son after his middle name), captain David Kirk & John Kirwan (Who is married to an Italian wife & has both sons named Luca & Niko (Whom Sir JK named after Sir Michael Jones's middle name) & has a daughter named Francesca who plays beach volleyball) to win the inaugural Rugby World Cup then the next meeting in 1999 that the All Blacks wheels had totally fallen adrift in which France (Their worst result at a Rugby World Cup was at the quarterfinal in which they lost to England in 1991 (Including after the match were French coach Daniel Dubroca shoved a New Zealand rugby referee at the players tunnel), New Zealand in 2015 & Wales at the last Rugby World Cup in 2019 (Including South African referee Jaco Peyper sent Sebastien Vahaamahina (Who had announced his retirement from international rugby after the red card which cost France a place in the semi) off for elbowing a Welsh player's head which proved to be the game changer which resulted in a victory for Wales (It was a reversal of 2011 when Welsh captain Sam Warburton got red carded for a lifting tackle on French winger Vincent Clerc which cost Wales a place in the Rugby World Cup final as they lost to France by a single point (The night before the All Blacks had our 1st win against the Wallabies at a Rugby World Cup in the other semifinal (All Black winger Cory Jane was the man of the match for defusing the bombs at a high ball situation during our semifinal encounter (Including during the match that AB's fullback Israel Dagg broke a couple of Wallaby defenders before setting the try up to All Black second-five Ma'a Nonu scoring the only try of the 2nd semifinal & New Zealand blindside flanker, hard man & enforcer Jerome Kaino manhandled Wallaby winger Digby Ioane who broke a couple of tackles preventing Ioane from scoring) came from behind to snatch a famous semifinal victory at Twickenham (Including French player Christophe Lamaison who bagged 28 points then tries from Philippe Bernat-Salles, the now late Christophe Dominici & Richard Dourthe in which France massacred the AB's & stunned them to bits after a dramatic come from behind moment when they managed to reach the final against Australia to unsuccessfully challenge for the Rugby World Cup in 1999) before we thrashed them at Stadium Australia in Sydney to claim 3rd place in 2003 (New Zealand halfback Justin Marshall didn't play because of an injury so Australian born All Black Steve Devine got the nod as starting halfback) then 4 years later in 2007, our chances of reaching the semi went horribly wrong (1st Dan Carter got injured & he was replaced by Nick Evans before Evans got injured as well so he had to be replaced meaning that Luke McAlister (Who was playing at second five) went on to play first five for the rest of the game but after the Cardiff disaster, the All Blacks coach Graham Henry managed to survive his job as head coach of the All Blacks whom he served (He took over the job from John Mitchell (Who is now the England rugby team assistant coach (Whom he specializes in defence) in 2004) until after our Rugby World Cup triumph in 2011 (Steve Hansen took over from 2012 until last year before it was Ian Foster who is now currently the head coach of the AB's) as France capitalized by scoring a try after English ref Wayne Barnes (Who had sent All Black Luke McAlister to the sin bin during the match & hadn't penalized the French in the last 50 minutes of the game) missed an obvious forward pass at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff which cost us before we met them twice in Auckland in 2011, one was during the pool stages in which we smoked them on the back of a Dan Carter (Who was on fire but didn't play in the final in 2011 after injuring his groin which ruled him out of the whole tournament (Aaron Cruden had been called up instead of Stephen Donald but suffered a knee injury during the 2011 final so Donald took Cruden's place for the remainder of the final) just before the AB's last pool game against Canada in Wellington) masterclass & the other was a close encounter in which we won the 2011 Rugby World Cup by a single point (Including the match winning penalty goal provided by Stephen Donald (Who had been white baiting before he was called up to the All Blacks squad as an injury replacement to Colin Slade who had injured his groin similar to Dan Carter's during the RWC quarterfinal match against Argentina before the Rugby World Cup semifinal match against Australia) which proved to be the turning point of the 2011 RWC final dubbed as The Kick) in the final ending our 24 year drought of winning the Rugby World Cup but our most recent meeting between both sides at a Rugby World Cup was in 2015 at the quarterfinal in Cardiff in which we annihilated them 62 points to 13 (The biggest thrashing ever produced at a Rugby World Cup knockout game since the All Blacks semifinal encounter in 1987 against Wales (Who had Huw Richards sent off for assaulting Gary Whetton with a blow to the head before being attacked by Buck Shelford (He would've been sent from the field in disgrace should today's modern video technology be available) with Shelford pole axing Richards with a punch to the head) in a blowout (Including a hat-trick of tries out of nowhere by All Black winger & elder brother of back rower/loose forward Ardie, Julian Savea) to reach the semifinal against the Springboks in which we won in order to bury the demons from 2007 but South Africa's defence of the Rugby World Cup will start in the pool of death in Pool B (Whoever loses against hosts France in Pool A for New Zealand will face the defending world champion Springboks in the quarterfinals but trust me, the AB's have never been beaten in pool play (It was 31 wins from the inaugural 1987 tournament to last year (Our most recent win in pool play was against Namibia (Including that acrobatic rugby league style try from the corner by halfback TJ Perenara) & a draw against Italy because of the match being called off due to typhoon Hagibis) but let's hope that the French doesn't become the 1st team to beat the All Blacks in pool play) along with Ireland (Who the Boks have never met at a Rugby World Cup & will meet Scotland again at a pool game just like last year), Scotland (The last time both South Africa (Who adapted to the law changes on their way to world glory in 2019) & the Scots (Who will clash with Ireland yet again just like in 2019) met was in 2015 during a pool game), Asia/Pacific 1 & Europe 2 then in Pool C where Australia is expected to meet both Wales (Who will meet the Flying Fijians yet again for the 5th Rugby World Cup in a row (It was in 2007 that Fiji eclipsed the Welsh in pool play to reach the quarterfinal (Who they lost to South Africa in the quarterfinal who went on to win their 2nd of 3 RWC titles) then Wales defeated Fiji 3 consecutive times at a Rugby World Cup in 2011, 2015 & last year) & Fiji again just like in 2015 & last year along with their other pool opponents, Europe 1 & Qualifier winner & last but not least, Pool D consists of defending Six Nations & Autumn Nations Cup champions England (Who had not triumphed at the Rugby World Cup since 2003 & came so close of winning the tournament last year against the Siya Kolisi (Who missed the whole Rugby Championship in which the Springboks won in 2019 through injury) led South Africa in the final (They were favourites going into that match until Kyle Sinckler came off the field straight away with a head knock allowing the Springboks to capitalize by going in for the kill which proved to be a game changer/turning point to seal a 3rd Rugby World Cup crown (Along with New Zealand who won it in 1987, 2011 & 2015 are in 1st equal along with the South Africans compared to Australia who have won the Rugby World Cup twice in 1991 & 1999 & England with that solitary win in 2003) after their dominant victory in the final to add to their triumphs in 1995 & 2007) after they famously outplayed & toppled New Zealand (Who had missed out of completing a successful three peat (And were reigning world champions at the time) in which the law alterations must have made the All Blacks harder & tougher of winning a 3rd straight tournament when we were defeated in the semi against England but discipline has been a bit of a problem for the All Blacks to lose a semifinal like this (And it must have been the most recent law changes (Like alterations to the high tackle laws (Including the decision making framework for high shots & no arms tackles (Mitigating factors will result in a yellow card while if there's no mitigating factor, it's red) introduced already in 2019 (Which was World Cup year), the first man in only allowed to legitimately turn the ball over at the breakdown (The second man can't do that nowadays as the referee will blow them for a penalty as a result for handling the ball in a ruck), free kicks are awarded for not hooking the ball in a scrum properly & the ban on kicking ball through rucks (You'll only have to hook the ball in a backwards motion) in rugby union have helped South Africa win a 3rd Rugby World Cup in 2019) in the semifinal & will meet Argentina again in pool play just like 2019), previous Rugby World Cup hosts Japan (Who topped the pool in Pool A after wins against Russia, Ireland, Samoa & Scotland to become the 1st & only Asian team to reach the quarterfinal at a Rugby World Cup last year but their dream run at the tournament got shattered by the hands of the eventual world champions the Springboks (Who had English referee Wayne Barnes shown the yellow card to the great, legendary Springbok prop forward Tendai 'Beast' Mtawarira instead of a red card for a lifting tackle on a Japanese player during the match which was a little bit unlucky), Argentina (All Blacks conquerors at Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta in Sydney during this years Tri Nations series who failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the RWC last year after losing to both France & England (They defeated both Tonga & the United States but both losses have sent the Argentinians packing & are expected to face the English yet again in the pool games of the 2023 Rugby World Cup), Oceania 1 & Americas 2.

And finally the America's Cup is officially back after 2 & a half years but 1st it's the America's Cup World Series in Auckland where in the 1st race the defenders Emirates Team New Zealand were too good against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Old nemesis & adversary of ETNZ, Australian Jimmy Spithill is the helmsman aboard the Italian yacht) then the Dean 'Deano' Barker (How did he easily know the race course since he left Emirates Team New Zealand? Since Peter 'Pete' or 'Pistol Pete' Burling replaced him at the helm of ETNZ since 2014 but he is now doing it for the Americans (He did it in 2000 with Team New Zealand as an understudy to Russell Coutts (But Barker is now acquired the same style of racing with American Magic just like Russell Coutts did with Alinghi in 2003) helmed American Magic defeated the struggling INEOS Team UK (Skippered by Olympic gold medalist Sir Ben Ainslie) followed by Luna Rossa who easily won after the Brits had withdrawn due to a mechanical problem before American Magic were too good against the defenders (And how did they beat Emirates Team New Zealand? They were too fast but our hopes of retaining the Auld Mug are currently under threat because American Magic have now claimed the favourites tag of winning the Prada Cup therefore taking over from INEOS Team UK but next year's America's Cup could be like 1987 when Australia failed to defend the Auld Mug (Unlike New Zealand did it in 1995 in San Diego, California by emulating Australia's success in 1983 in Newport, Rhode Island then they had to go one better by defending the America's Cup in 2000 on home waters at the city of sails in Auckland) against the brave, patriotic American syndicate, Stars & Stripes led by Dennis Conner) after ETNZ made crucial errors during the last race of the day yesterday (There has been an update that Emirates Team New Zealand easily won races respectively today against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Who ended American Magic's hopes of a 100% record in the America's Cup World Series in Auckland) & INEOS Team UK respectively but ETNZ is racing American Magic tomorrow so let's hope for a win against Dean Barker (I wonder what he will say if they beat Emirates Team New Zealand again today 'We know how to beat these blokes' just like Wallaby Toutai Kefu said when Australia was trailing against New Zealand at a Bledisloe Cup rugby test in Sydney in 2001 just before they finished the All Blacks off at the death when Kefu scored the match winning try at the stroke of full time) & the Americans but there are both important races tomorrow for the defenders Emirates Team New Zealand, but 1st there's perennial Prada Cup favourites in the form of American Magic (Well can we finally get our 1st win against the Americans? But their last race of the America's Cup World Series for American Magic is INEOS Team UK a day before the Christmas race this Sunday (It will feature a semifinal format before the 2 best syndicates battle it out to determine the winner of the Christmas race in Auckland a month before the Prada Cup (3 challengers (American Magic, INEOS Team UK & Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli) from 3 countries (Italy, the United Kingdom & USA) but there can only be 2 syndicates challenging for the Prada Cup final to battle it out for a place in the America's Cup) & after the newly christened Prada Cup it's the America's Cup match in March next year with the winner of the Prada Cup will have the chance to dethrone Emirates Team New Zealand as holders of the Auld Mug) & the challenger of record Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Whose 1st race of the day tomorrow is against INEOS Team UK) but we did it at last because we won the America's Cup World Series after we needed a win against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Who had taken victory against the struggling INEOS Team UK but were on the cusp of something special when they led against ETNZ during the all important race but they were fallen flat as Emirates Team New Zealand scored a crucial win to claim the America's Cup World Series) after finally able to beat American Magic (Who had to win easily against the Brits but during our race against American Magic that there were no mistakes this time but Dean Barker has had a shocker according to commentator Scotty Stevenson during the race against Emirates Team New Zealand where Barker easily made an error or should I say a mistake) 2 days ago but yesterday's Christmas race had been called off due to a lack of wind but the semifinal of the Christmas race between ETNZ & INEOS Team UK had exceeded the 45 minute time limit (And we were robbed of reaching the Christmas race final because it was shades of 2013 that our bid of winning the America's Cup against Oracle Team USA were in tatters because of the time limit had been exceeded).

All Blacks team naming against Argentina (2020 Tri Nations part 2) + RIP Diego Maradona & my perspective about being a blogger

Well, after Argentina made rugby history 1 week & 5 days ago by knocking over New Zealand (Who were inconsistent last time out but the art or power of the Argentinian forward pack made all the difference) for their 1st win in a historic upset for the ages at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney, the All Blacks have named our team against Argentina (Who had a draw against the Wallabies in Newcastle) in the penultimate match of the Tri Nations as well as our final test match of the year (Let's make this a good one (Because consistency is the key) but can we finish our year off with a win?) at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle this Saturday (Same day that Auckland host the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup Premiership final against the reigning Mitre 10 Cup Premiership champions Tasman (Who put their Mitre 10 Cup Premiership title on the line which is sort of like a title defence in boxing, MMA (Mixed martial arts) or wrestling) at Eden Park (Which will host the 1st T20 cricket (Well, Pops is not into the cricket (Just because he's not a cricket follower (Well, I am into the cricket spirit) because he is a rugby aficionado) international tomorrow (Same day that Hawke's Bay host the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup Championship final against Northland at McLean Park in Napier to decide who will earn promotion next year by taking North Harbour's place) between the Black Caps (Who will be without star players such as captain & Sunrisers Hyderabad player Kane Williamson & IPL winning player of the Mumbai Indians (Who have now won it 5 times (1st it was 2013 then 2015, 2017, last year & this year in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) in which they successfully defended or should I say, retained the title) in the Indian Premier League), Trent Boult) & the West Indies) in Auckland) according to head coach Ian Foster (Well, his job as coach of the AB's is at stake & if the All Blacks lose another test, Fozzy will be sacked) so here is the starting lineup in it's entirety:

22. Rieko Ioane
& 23. Will Jordan (Who comes back in the side to replace Damian McKenzie to wear the number 23 jersey)

So that is my 379th blog of the year 2020 (MMXX) & my 39th of this year.

P.S. And the soccer world is in mourning as Argentinian soccer legend (And soccer World Cup winning player for Argentina in 1986) Diego Armando Maradona has suddenly passed away at 60 so all thoughts, prayers & condolences go to the family of Diego Maradona, RIP (Rest In Peace/Rest In Pieces/Rest In Paradise).

Diego Maradona
1960 - 2020

And I have been a blogger since 2012 (My 1st blog was from the same year but my 50th was in 2016 before my 100th was in 2017 then my 200th was in 2018 & my 300th was last year so I have been doing 379 blogs so far as of today) so being a blogger is like being a columnist (Much more like a simple column in a newspaper) as well as a computer programmer like Neo Anderson from The Matrix movies that I've seen before (And my favourite part of The Matrix movies is the martial arts fight choreography stuff that I used to love).

2020 Mitre 10 Cup semifinal review (+ some news that I've have missed)

Well, it's business as usual as the Mitre 10 Cup finals for both the Championship & the Premiership are locked in as Northland become the 1st team to reach the Championship final as they knock Otago (Featuring both Fijian Kiwi rugby players Vilimoni Koroi & Jona Nareki who went to Pops old school which is Aramoho School before they went to Fielding High School on a rugby scholarship then the pair played for the All Black sevens & they now play for both Otago in the Mitre 10 Cup & the Highlanders in Super Rugby Aotearoa) over in at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin followed by Hawke's Bay (Current holders of the Ranfurly Shield (1st it was Canterbury to start with to begin the year as Ranfurly Shield holders followed by Taranaki then Otago & now Hawke's Bay) but are now starting to play like it was in the 1960's (Which was their golden era of provincial rugby in New Zealand because of their style of play this year) & were in the Championship final last year as they came unstuck to Bay of Plenty who got promoted to the Premiership this year) as they completely thrash Taranaki in front of their adoring home fans at McLean Park in Napier to go through to the final after Auckland become the 1st team to reach the Premiership final as they fended off a spirited Waikato side at Eden Park in Auckland then after Hawke's Bay thrash Taranaki, defending Mitre 10 Cup Premiership champions Tasman overcome the challenge of Bay of Plenty at Trafalgar Park in Nelson as they're in the final yet again.

So it's the Magpies of Hawke's Bay to play the Taniwha of Northland (The last meeting between the 2 sides was a Ranfurly Shield match in round 6 of the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup in which Hawke's Bay managed to defend the shield against Northland) in the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup Championship final this Friday at McLean Park in Napier followed by Auckland who are up against the Mako of Tasman (The last meeting between the 2 sides was in round 6 of the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup in which Auckland totally dominated the match against Tasman to go on top of the Premiership standings) in the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup Premiership final at Eden Park (Which will host the 1st T20 cricket international between the Black Caps of New Zealand & the West Indies (Or the Windies) this Friday (Same day as Hawke's Bay host Northland in the Mitre 10 Cup Championship final) before they host the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership final between Auckland & Tasman this Saturday) in Auckland this Saturday (Who's it gonna be? Whether it's Auckland to regain the title that they won in 2018 or will the Tasman Mako successfully defend their Mitre 10 Cup Premiership title (The pinnacle of New Zealand provincial rugby) that they won last year against Wellington in Nelson but they are playing away from home this year) but that's the 1st time I did a blog about the Mitre 10 Cup on my own.

So that is my 378th blog of the year 2020 (MMXX) & my 38th of this year.

P.S. News that I've just missed such as England winning the 2020 Six Nations title (3rd time that England won the Six Nations under current coach Eddie Jones) after easily beating Italy in Rome as well as twice D1NZ champion Darren Kelly & Spanish driver Alex Riberas winning the New Zealand endurance championships (3 hour) title at Highlands Motorsport Park which is located in Cromwell in a Aston Martin Vantage GT3 car & 2016 Supercars champion & this year's Bathurst 1000 winner Shane van Gisbergen winning the first ever Repco battle of Jacks Ridge (Which is held in the Hawkeswood family property in Whitford near Auckland & it featured 4 time New Zealand rally champion & ex-Hyundai WRC factory driver Hayden Paddon who competed but unfortunately crashed out during the event) rally sprint title in a Mitsubishi Mirage AP4 rally car.

AB's burgled by the hands of the Argy bargies of Argentina (All Blacks cop brutal Bledisloe IV reminder)

Well, the Argy bargies of Argentina have created rugby history at long last for the ages as they beat the All Blacks for the very 1st time ever at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney in a historic upset (And the headlines would probably say: ALL BLACKS COP BRUTAL BLEDISLOE IV REMINDER) during the Tri Nations that they will never forget (They join the exclusive club of tier 1 rugby nations conquering the AB's such as Australia, England, France, Ireland, defending world champions South Africa & Wales but it looks like that both Italy & Scotland as the other tier 1 countries in rugby to have never beaten New Zealand) but the Argentinian defence was so dominant & resilient especially the forwards that they won them the test match to register their 1st win against New Zealand (Our next match of the Tri Nations is against the same opponent at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle but can we get payback against them (2011 was the last time that New Zealand lost back to back tests (1st it was against the Springboks at Port Elizabeth & then it was the Wallabies in Brisbane before the 2011 Rugby World Cup in which we won the tournament) & the next Tri Nations game is between Argentina & hosts Australia is at the same venue in Newcastle to decide who will go on top of the standings) & I mean what went wrong for the AB's again to lose another test? Maybe because of a suspension of New Zealand prop forward Ofa Tu'ungafasi causing him to miss the final 2 Tri Nations games as well as a Super Rugby Aotearoa pre-season match for the Blues (He'll be available for the opening Super Rugby Aotearoa match for the Blues which is against the Hurricanes on the 27th of February).

So that is my 377th blog of the year 2020 (MMXX) & my 37th of this year.

All Blacks team naming against Argentina (2020 Tri Nations) + 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa schedule announcement

Well, after missing out on a win against the Wallabies after New Zealand prop forward Ofa Tu'ungafasi (Who had been suspended by the citing commissioner for 3 weeks meaning that his Tri Nations season is over as well as a Super Rugby Aotearoa preseason match for the Blues (He'll return when the Blues play the Hurricanes in the opening Super Rugby Aotearoa match on the 27th of February) got sent off for a careless head high tackle (Remember that high tackles aren't playing their part of rugby due to a framework of a high shot being in place according to the sport's governing body World Rugby & it's time to move on) on try scorer Tom Wright along with Wallaby Lachlan Swinton (Who had to serve 4 weeks as a result of a reckless contact straight to the head on Sam Whitelock) in the 4th & final Bledisloe Cup test in Brisbane, the All Blacks have named our team against Argentina (The last meeting between both sides was last year in Buenos Aires where the Argentinians almost made history but the AB's ran out the victors in a close encounter in the opening Rugby Championship match last year but the last time Argentina played international rugby was at the final pool game at last years Rugby World Cup against the United States in which they were dominant (Although they missed out a place in the quarterfinal with England & France (Argentina's opponents that they lost to) booked their place in the quarterfinal in Pool C) & they haven't played a lot of international rugby since the pandemic began) in the 3rd match of the Tri Nations at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney according to head coach Ian Foster so here is the starting lineup in it's entirety:

PLAYING XV

FRONT ROW
1 (Loose head prop): Joe Moody (Crusaders/Canterbury)
2 (Hooker): Dane Coles (Hurricanes/Wellington)
3 (Tight head prop): Tyrel Lomax (Hurricanes/Tasman)

SECOND ROW
4 (Lock): Patrick Tuipulotu (Blues/Auckland)
5 (Lock): Sam Whitelock (Crusaders/Canterbury)

BACK ROW
6 (Blind side flanker): Shannon Frizell (Highlanders/Tasman)
7 (Open side flanker): Sam Cane (Captain, Chiefs/Bay Of Plenty)
8 (Number 8): Ardie Savea (Hurricanes/Wellington)

HALVES
9 (Half-back): Aaron Smith (Highlanders/Manawatu)
10 (First five-eighth): Richie Mo'unga (Crusaders/Canterbury)

MIDFIELD
12 (Second five-eighth): Jack Goodhue (Crusaders/Northland)
13 (Centre): Anton Lienert-Brown (Chiefs/Waikato)

OUTSIDE BACKS
11 (Left wing): Caleb Clarke (Blues/Auckland)
14 (Right wing): Jordie Barrett (Hurricanes/Taranaki)
& 15 (Fullback): Beauden Barrett (Blues/Taranaki)

And in the reserves are:

16. Codie Taylor (Who is dropped to the bench with Dane Coles returning to the starting lineup)
17. Alex Hodgman
18. Nepo Laulala (Who returns to the side to replace Tyrel Lomax with Lomax elevated to the starting lineup to replace the suspended Ofa Tu'ungafasi)
19. Tupou Vaa'i (Who comes into the side to replace Patrick Tuipulotu with Tuipulotu elevated to the starting lineup to replace Scott Barrett (Who got yellow carded during the previous match)
20. Hoskins Sotutu (Who also comes into the side to replace Cullen Grace)
21. Brad Weber
22. Rieko Ioane (Who is also dropped to the bench with Caleb Clarke returning to the starting lineup as well)
& 23. Damian McKenzie (Who replaces Will Jordan to wear the number 23 jersey)

So that is my 376th blog of the year 2020 (MMXX) & my 36th of this year.

P.S. And here is the comprehensive list of matches to play for the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season after the schedule had been announced (It would be the 1st Super Rugby Aotearoa season to feature the final after the inaugural Super Rugby Aotearoa season this year didn't include the final):

2020 Mitre 10 Cup round 9 review

Well, here is the review of round 9 of the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup season:

Two weeks out from the Mitre 10 Cup playoffs there is still plenty riding on next week's last round of the Premiership with seven teams within 10 points of each other.

In the Championship it is looking much more settled with Hawke's Bay and Otago confirmed as home semifinalists and Southland, Northland and Taranaki all vying for the final two spots.

Relegation prospects are no clearer in the Premiership where even fourth-placed Bay of Plenty can't be over-confident. They did beat Waikato to give themselves a boost but North Harbour are only one point behind them and Canterbury and Wellington are two points further back.

The final game of the regular season, when Canterbury host Auckland, will decide who will be relegated. Canterbury will at least know what is required of them as on Saturday, Bay of Plenty host North Harbour while Wellington will play Manawatu.

ROUND NINE WRAP:

Southland v Otago

History, and smaller population, has always meant Southland tends to be on the receiving end of losses in games against their nearest neighbour but occasionally there are performances to savour and Friday night in Invercargill was one of them. Signs have been seen of an overdue recovery for Southland this year but this result was the clearest evidence yet. Skipper, and flanker, Tony Lamborn set a great example for Southland. He scored the first try and ensured pressure was maintained on Otago until the end. Otago did score two fine tries, wing Freedom Vahaakolo showing his class on a 35m run while second five-eighth Sio Tomkinson's effort was off a set-piece play. But a missed pass by first five-eighth Josh Ioane was picked up by flanker Matt James who had a 50m run to start the second half with a try. Ioane's miss of a handy penalty chance, with 20 minutes lef, let Southland off the hook and they celebrated with tries to wing Tevita Latu from a scrum out from the line and then a try for replacement hooker Talemaitoga Tuapati from a turnover in front of Otago's posts.

Southland 32 (Tony Lamborn, Matt James, Tevita Latu, Talemaitoga Tuapati tries; Scot Eade con, 2 pen; Greg Dyer 2 con) Otago 15 (Freedom Vahaakolo, Sio Tomkinson tries; Josh Ioane con, pen). HT: 10-15

Auckland v Northland

Inconsistency has been Auckland's greatest rival over the past decade, and while there has been success in recent seasons, there have also been moments when they have been in danger of letting things slip. Fortunately, wing Salesi Rayasi felt otherwise and sealed a late win over Northland at Eden Park. The Taniwha side did pour on the pressure and led 10-3 until Rayasi's intercept and 50m run for Auckland's first try. Northland reclaimed the lead with a try to halfback Sam Nock after a kick ahead by fullback Mathew Wright which was taken by centre Rene Ranger who passed out to Nock to score. But Rayasi was in it again when returning a pass from prop Jarred Adams for the big prop to give Auckland a lead only for hooker Jordan Olsen to score with seven minutes left. However, Rayasi had the final say, although an injury time lineout penalty conceded by Northland was enough to let Auckland off the hook.

Auckland 24 (Salesi Rayasi 2, Jarred Adams tries; Harry Plummer 3 con; Zarn Sullivan pen) Northland 20 (Jone Macilai, Sam Nock, Jorden Olsen tries; Wiseguy Faiane con; Johnny Cooper pen). HT: 0-8

North Harbour v Counties Manukau

North Harbour's revived season continued in the wet at Albany in a game it dominated almost from the outset after wing Jared Page hauled in a huge pass from halfback Bryn Hall to score after 10 minutes. Lineout mauls don't come much better than the 20-metre effort that saw hooker Luteru Tolai score. Counties Manukau's only try, to wing Kirisi Kuridrani was a carbon copy of Page's earlier effort. However, it was quickly responded to as prop Teague McElroy put his power to use to extend the lead which was made even more emphatic when another long Hall pass, this time to the left, saw wing Tomas Aoake over in the corner.

North Harbour 32 (Jared Page, Luteru Tolai, Teague McElroy, Tomas Aoake tries; Bryn Gatland 3 con, 2 pen) Counties Manukau 5 (Kirisi Kuridrani try). HT: 10-0

Tasman v Canterbury

Backs to the relegation wall Canterbury came out just as would be expected. They were firing on all cylinders and experience showed with lock Luke Romano turning back the years to produce a compelling example for some of his side who are in the earliest years of their first-class careers. His lineout work was a masterclass of competitiveness, but not the only area that he contributed. His tackling and running with the ball was also impressive. To keep Tasman scoreless was testimony to the level of intent in the Canterbury approach. That was backed by fullback Josh McKay who made Tasman pay for a failed touch finder with a superb run that opened up the home defence with ease. It was a good night for Canterbury's wings with brothers Ngatungane and Isaiah Punivai scoring along with Chay Fihaki who pulled off a key intercept at the start of the second half to leave Tasman facing a steep uphill run which they were unable to complete.

Tasman 0 Canterbury 29 (Ngatungane Punivai, Josh McKay, Chay Fihaki, Isaiah Punivai tries; Brett Cameron 3 con, pen). HT: 0-17

Hawke's Bay v Wellington

Ranfurly Shield history says it is usually the challenger who throws everything into the first quarter of challenges, but in Napier on Sunday it was Hawke's Bay, the defender, who threw off Wellington hopes by scoring three tries in the first quarter: the first after securing a mid-field bomb, a kick ahead by halfback Folau Fakatava and a successful chase by No8 Devan Flanders; the second from a lineout drive to flanker Marino Mikaele-Tu'u, and the third to centre Stacey Ili. But to cap that, the cream of the crop went to second-five Neria Fomai after fullback Kurt Baker broke from his 22m to link with the backline and when replacement five-eighth Lincoln McClutchie kicked to the in-goal area, it was Fomai who had the speed to score. Wellington scored two tries, including a superb run by lock Naitoa Ah Kuoi, in six minutes to pull back to 34-18 behind with 15 minutes left, but Hawke's Bay held firm to claim the Shield for summer.

Hawke's Bay 34 (Devan Flanders, Marino Mikaele-Tu'u, Stacey Ili, Neria Fomai tries; Caleb Makene 3 con, 2 pen; Lincoln McClutchie con) Wellington 18 (Naitoa Ah Kuoi, Kaliopasi Uluilakepa tries; Jackson Garden-Bachop con, 2 pen). HT: 27-6

Waikato v Bay of Plenty

It's an old saying, that a certain team 'had come to play', but that's what Bay of Plenty showed Waikato five minutes into their game when a length of the field try finished off by second-five Dan Hollishead set the scene for a lively encounter in Hamilton. That was followed a few minutes later by a Joe Webber charge down which saw the wing reclaim the ball to score. Webber scored a second and then it was Waikato's turn to respond with centre Quinn Tupaea busting open the Bay defence to be followed soon after by prop Ollie Norris driving over from a ruck close to the line. Down 18-19 at the turn, Waikato struck back when Samisoni Taukei'aho took an in-pass four minutes into the second half to score. Soon after Tupaea scored his second following a break by wing Liam Coombes-Fabling but Bay of Plenty had Mathew Skipwith-Garland create a break in midfield and No.8 Sam Dickson drew them within four with his try. Nearly three minutes into injury time flanker Joe Johnston delivered the coup de grace with a try under the posts.

Waikato 30 (Quinn Tupaea 2, Ollie Norris, Samisoni Taukei'aho tries; Beaudein Waaka 2 con, 2 pen) Bay of Plenty 33 (Dan Hollinshead, Joe Webber 2, Sam Dickson, Joe Johnston tries; Kaleb Trask 4 con). HT: 18-19

Manawatu v Taranaki

Down 6-12 at halftime at Feilding, Taranaki scored two tries in five minutes early in the second half to gain some vital momentum and while Manawatu closed within one point, a stronger final quarter saw Taranaki extend their run of wins over the home side to six. Manawatu halfback Bryn Wilson and lock Liam Mitchell scored first half tries while wing Nigel Ah Wong scored in the second. But Taranaki's use of their lineout maul saw prop Bradley Slater cross twice for tries from mauls then as they started to run with confidence their wings Jacob Ratumaitayuki-Kneepkens and Lewis Ormond each scored to put the issue beyond doubt. Manawatu finished strongly but errors under pressure denied them the chance to pull off a grandstand finish.

Manawatu 19 (Bryn Wilson, Liam Mitchell, Nigel Ah Wong tries; Ben Wyness con; Stewart Cruden con) Taranaki 35 (Bradley Slater 2, Jacob Raumaitayuki-Kneepkens, Lewis Ormond tries; Jayson Potroz 3 con, 3 pen). HT: 12-6

Making Australian rugby great again (2020 edition) + Joe Biden's victory of becoming the new US President

Well, the All Blacks hopes of another victory against the much improved Wallabies side (Who had their 1st win under new coach Dave Rennie & became the 1st nation since England in last years Rugby World Cup semifinal to beat New Zealand) in Brisbane have been dashed or should I say fell through (And I mean, what went wrong for the AB's to lose a test match like this? They were without key men such as Caleb Clarke, Dane Coles, Jack Goodhue, Richie Mo'unga & Aaron Smith (The All Blacks tend to lose matches if Coles, Mo'unga & Smith is not playing unlike in last year before our semifinal in the Rugby World Cup against England that New Zealand tend to lose matches even if Matt Todd is not playing because Todd didn't play in our defeat in the hands of the English after being ruled out of the semifinal with a shoulder injury) after both sides have had both players sent off (1st it was tight head prop for the All Blacks Ofa Tu'ungafasi (5th All Black to be sent off in a test match as he joins the late Cyril Brownlie, the late Sir Colin Meads, Sonny Bill Williams & Scott Barrett but Tu'ungafasi is likely to miss the remainder of the Tri Nations with a possible ban/suspension after being cited by the citing officer) followed by a Wallaby blindside flanker Lachlan Swinton for both high & dangerous tackles (A high tackle in rugby is like a gunshot with the high arm of a rugby player is the same as a bullet of a firearm so getting high tackled is like getting shot by a gun) of each side by referee Nic Berry (Who I guess made the right decision to send both of these players off) as well as a yellow card by both Marika Koroibete for Australia just before halftime & Scott Barrett for New Zealand during the 2nd half but we were not able to overcome the red card compared to Australia (And there was only 1 side that overcame the red card & it was the Wallabies who did it) but the All Blacks lead the Tri Nations standings by 2 points after getting a losing bonus point against the Wallabies (Let's hope that Australia stumble against Argentina & try & win us the Tri Nations title) & the next match that New Zealand is playing is against Argentina (One of 3 tier 1 countries to have never beaten the All Blacks along with Italy & Scotland) which we got to regroup (After our 2 point loss against the Wallabies (Who exactly didn't give up the fight during the match) in Brisbane despite we had the Bledisloe Cup trophy in the bag) at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney in 6 days time but the good news is in America that former US Vice President & Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has been elected the new US President after successfully winning the American general election for the Democratic party by taking over responsibility from unpopular president, Donald Trump (Who will be no longer president effective from inauguration day on the 20th of January next year after serving 4 years as the commander in chief when he took over from Barack Obama (The 1st African American & black US President & last good president before Trump (Who was the worst compared to Obama who was simply the best) & successfully defeated Hillary Clinton (Wife of former US president Bill) in the mother of all political upsets 4 years ago in 2016 & the 4 year reign of Donald Trump (1st US president not to win a 2nd term since George H.W. Bush in 1992 when Bill Clinton won the right to become the new US President for which he served from 1993 to 2001 before George W Bush took over then Obama, Trump & now Biden (Who will set to become the oldest living US president at 77 & it looks likely that Biden will become the 46th President of the United States as well but Biden's running mate Kamala Harris will be the 1st female vice president of the United States) as president of the United States is over (Many Americans are happy & relived that Trump is ousted by Biden).

So that is my 374th blog of the year 2020 (MMXX) & my 34th of this year.

P.S. And I told Pops today that I never condone in violence now that I'm a pacifist whenever defeat is in the All Blacks sights.

Well, after another superb win in the 3rd Bledisloe Cup test in Sydney to successfully retain the Bledisloe for another year, the All Blacks have named our team in our 4th & final Bledisloe Cup test match against Australia (It's been over a year since the Wallabies last beat New Zealand but can they regroup & finally get their 1st win against us? We'll see (And the All Blacks have never lost a test match since last year's Rugby World Cup semifinal against England (A victory against Wales in the 3rd & 4th place playoff in Tokyo at last years RWC then a draw in Wellington & 2 straight wins against Australia in both Auckland & Sydney (In which we retained the Bledisloe (The famous rugby trophy contested between the gold of Australia & the All Black of New Zealand (And it was named after the governor general of New Zealand, Lord Bledisloe) this year) as well as the 2nd match of the Tri Nations at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane (Australia won the last encounter against us in Brisbane 3 years ago but the last time the AB's tasted victory against the Wallabies in Brisbane was in 2014 where Malakai Fekitoa scored a try to level the scores with a kick to come before Colin Slade brought it home with the game winning conversion to seal a famous come from behind victory) according to head coach Ian Foster so here is the starting lineup in it's entirety:

2020 Mitre 10 Cup round 8 review

Well, here is the review of round 8 of the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup season:

Playoff spots in the Mitre 10 Premiership are still wide open with two rounds left and only 11 points separating the seven sides after the eighth round of games over the weekend.

Facing the most work to qualify are the last-placed Canterbury who suffered a rare home loss to Otago to start the round.

North Harbour beat Northland but are still only one point ahead of Canterbury with both sides wary of relegation prospects. Also sitting nervously in that vein are Bay of Plenty who are two points clear after their win over Hawke's Bay.

In the Championship, Otago are three points clear of Hawke's Bay while Northland, Taranaki, in spite of their loss to Counties Manukau, and Southland are in the hunt to complete the playoffs berths.

Week eight results were:

Canterbury v Otago

You know things are not going to well for Canterbury when it is the opposition that scores in the moments either side of halftime. That was what a defensively strong Otago team managed in Christchurch. That defence produced the first try for Otago to second five-eighths Patelesio Tomkinson, while halfback Mitch Drummond got one back soon after for Canterbury. But that set the stage three minutes later for fullback Vilimoni Koroi to take advantage of a superb backhanded off-load from No8 Nasi Manu to race ahead, put in a grubber kick, reclaim the ball and score. Canterbury replacement five-eighths Brett Cameron drew the sides level at 16-16 with a superb 45m dropped goal and a penalty goal from a similar distance. But Koroi was at it again, into the final 10 minutes when shimmying to create space on the outside for flanker Slade McFarlane to score. It was emblematic of Otago's performance that a try-saving tackle in the corner all but signalled the end of the game.

Canterbury 16 (Mitchell Drummond try; Fergus Burke pen; Brett Cameron con, pen, dropped goal) Otago 23 (Palesio Tomkinson, Vilimoni Koroi, Slade McDowall tries; Josh Ioane con, 2 pen). HT: 3-6

Wellington v Tasman

Tasman poured on the pressure in the rain at Jerry Collins Stadium in Porirua, demonstrating superb craft work with the driving lineout maul to open the try-scoring with a maul that sprinted over the line for flanker Sione Havili to claim the prize. Their second, scored by the same method, if a lot more prolonged, came in the 69th minute with blindside flanker Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta putting paid to any hope Wellington may have had of a win with the try. Tasman's set-piece was too strong, showing that it doesn't only rely on its classy backline to produce the goods. Wellington's attack couldn't pierce the Tasman defence and their only points were a solitary penalty goal landed by first five-eighths Jackson Garden-Bachop.

Wellington 3 (Jackson Garden-Bachop pen) Tasman 19 (Sione Havili, Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta tries; Mitchell Hunt 3 pen). HT: 0-11

Northland v North Harbour

Misty rain in Whangarei ensured it was always going to be a battle decided by the forward packs and in that department North Harbour ruled. Their first try, nearly half an hour into the game, was scored by hooker Loteru Tolai from a lineout maul that rolled from the sideline to just beside the goalposts. Three minutes into injury time, North Harbour utilised their power again with a concerted assault ending with another of halfback Bryn Hall's long passes finding first five-eighths Bryn Gatland who pushed between closing defenders to score. Northland refused to lie down and replacement Rene Ranger got them back within touching difference when slipping a grubber kick to the in-goal where centre Scott Gregory scored. But with seven minutes left flanker Fine Inisi was on hand to pick up ball after a strong tackle and he raced 40m to win the race for the line to score.

Northland 8 (Scott Gregory try; Johnny Cooper pen) North Harbour 24 (Luteru Tolai, Bryn Gatland, Fine Inisi tries; Gatland 3 con, pen). HT: 3-14

Auckland v Waikato

Waikato have caused Auckland some issues over the years at Eden Park and it looked like more of the same when halfback Xavier Roe threw a huge dummy that opened up an even bigger gap for him to jog through to the simplest of tries. But while Auckland took time to settle, they were ready when Waikato failed to cover a grubber kick through and wing Salesi Rayasi was on hand to scoop the ball up and score. He repeated the effort five minutes later after 24 minutes from a kick through by centre Tumua Manu. Waikato were still in the hunt seven points down with eight minutes left. But then wings AJ Lam and Rayasi combined on yet another grubber kick with Lam securing the ball and having Rayasi inside him to score. Rayasi then demonstrated his kicking class by lobbing a cross-kick to Lam who took the ball and then fed flanker Sione Tuipolotu over for a deserved try to seal the win.

Auckland 31 (Salesi Rayasi 3, Sione Tuipulotu tries; Harry Plummer 3 con, pen) Waikato 10 (Xavier Roe try; Fletcher Smith con; Rivez Reihana pen). HT: 14-7

Manawatu v Southland

Looking for their first win of the season, Manawatu cashed in on a fine midfield break by second five-eighths James Tofa with lock Liam Mitchell picking up the opening try in Feilding. But halfback Logan Crowley struck back with an outstanding solo try, running around the front of a lineout and then heading infield to score by the posts. But two tries in five minutes to Manawatu's wings, Te Rangatira Waitokia, who slipped only to get up and still have the time to score, and Nigel Ah Wong, spelled the difference between the sides. Southland hooker Greg Pleasants-Tate scored from a lineout maul, but just when the southerners looked to be mounting a chance, first five-eighths Ben Wyness ripped the ball in a tackle, fell past the defence, regained his feet and slipped away like a thief in the night for an outrageous try to seal the win.

Manawatu 24 (Liam Mitchell, Te Rangatira Waitokia, Nigel Ah Wong, Ben Wyness tries; Wyness 2 con) Southland 12 (Logan Crowley, Greg Pleasants-Tate tries; Scott Eade con). HT: 17-7

Bay of Plenty v Hawke's Bay

The Ranfurly Shield holders struck in the first two minutes with wing Lolagi Visinia running onto a tactical kick at speed and was unstoppable just out from the line. However, Bay of Plenty struck back quickly with fullback Kaleb Trask fed into a gap from an offload inside and he had too much speed to be denied the try. The southerners reclaimed the lead courtesy of a defensive blank by the Bay of Plenty rearguard over a ball on the ground and when normality returned it was wing Jonah Lowe who had the try. They backed that up with a rolling maul with the inevitable try to hooker Ash Dixon. An intercept from Bay of Plenty's line saw wing Emoni Narawa run away to close the half-time gap to 15-17. Midway through the second half Hawke's Bay lost Lowe to the sin-bin for a dangerous challenge in the air and that was enough for Trask to run back on the angle in a backline move to score his second and seal the win.

Bay of Plenty 22 (Kaleb Trask 2, Emoni Narawa tries; Trask 2 con, pen) Hawke's Bay 17 (Lolaga Visinia, Jonah Lowe, Ash Dixon tries; Caleb Makene con). HT: 15-17

Taranaki v Counties Manukau

Guy Fawkes night came early in Inglewood as plenty of fireworks were unleashed in a game that took 87 minutes to be decided before Counties Manukau claimed a 31-27 win over Taranaki. In the end, two key turnovers by former All Blacks captain Kieran Read in his last game for the side proved vital in holding out a determined Taranaki bid to claim the win. But throughout the game there were moments of class from home first five-eighths Stephen Perofeta's ghosting run to score the first try, or left-wing Lewis Ormond's dive to score in the corner with only the ball, and his hand, in the field of play. Counties Manukau wing Kirisi Kuridrani wasn't to be outdone when capping a sizzling break by replacement back Etene Nanai-Seturo who then unleashed his own speed to create a sparkling demonstration of his class for the final try.

Taranaki 27 (Stephen Perofeta, Lewis Ormond, Mitchell Crosswell, Sean Wainui tries; Jayson Potroz 2 con, pen) Counties Manukau 31 (Jason Robertson, Jonathan Taumateine, Kirisi Kuridrani, Etene Nanai-Seturo tries; Robertson 4 con, pen). HT: 12-10

Bledisloe III & opening Tri Nations match review (+ South Africa's one year anniversary of winning last years Rugby World Cup & news of Sean Connery's passing)

Well, the All Blacks have done it in style as they pummel the Wallabies in Sydney to retain the Bledisloe in the opening Tri Nations match (Although star All Black first five Richie Mo'unga (Father of newborn baby Millie & husband of Sophie (Richie Mo'unga's beautiful wife) has been the top performer (Standout) of the game with a double (Both tries that he scored but narrowly missed out on getting a hat-trick after being ankle tapped by a Wallaby player before passing the ball to his All Black teammates & second five Jack Goodhue when Goodhue couldn't handle the ball & then knocked it on, he'll be annoyed at that (According to Justin Marshall in commentary for the Rugby Challenge video game series), 5 conversions & a penalty with a total of 23 points so far but with this victory, the AB's secure the biggest winning margin against Australia in 24 years (They beat them by 38 points surpassing the previous best with 37 (It was in 1996 where the All Blacks thrash the Wallabies at the old Athletic Park (It has since been demolished 20 years ago with Sky Stadium taken over as their main rugby ground in Wellington) in Wellington during the inaugural Tri Nations match in treacherous conditions) so here is the match commentary taken from Newshub:

Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the third Bledisloe Cup test match between the All Blacks and Australia from Stadium Australia in Sydney.

The All Blacks require just the solitary win from the final 2 Bledisloe Cup matches to defend the Cup for the 17th year in a row.

After both sides played out a pulsating draw in Wellington in the first test post-COVID, the All Blacks bounced back to thrash the Wallabies at Eden Park.

The clash also marks the start of the revamped Rugby Championship (Which is now Tri Nations Rugby), which will also feature Argentina.

The All Blacks have named an almost full-strength line-up. Rookie All Blacks No.8 Hoskins Sotutu (Son of famous Auckland & Blues player Waisake) will make his 1st test start with Ardie Savea (Brother of World Cup winning All Black in 2015, Julian) late to arrive, after his wife gave birth to their first child.

Sotutu is one of three changes to the run-on side, with Karl Tu'inukuafe returning to loosehead prop at the expense of Joe Moody, who is still going through HIA (Concussion) protocols.

Veteran Sam Whitelock (Dual Rugby World Cup winning player for the All Blacks in both 2011 & 2015 & brother of rugby players Adam, George & Luke) reclaims his spot at lock, after overcoming his own concussion issues, forcing Tupou Vaa'i out of the match day squad.

Midfielder Ngani Laumape (Ex rugby league player) and loose forward Dalton Papali'i are also in line for their first All Blacks appearances of the year, both named to the bench.

Elsewhere among the reserves, prop Tyrel Lomax (Son of former New Zealand rugby league player John) comes in for Nepo Laulala (Brother of former All Black Casey & current Counties Manukau player Luteru), also on baby-watch along with Ardie Savea after Nepo & his partner are expecting their first child, while Rieko Ioane (Son of Samoan rugby player Eddie & ex Black Fern Sandra Wihongi as well as the younger brother of Blues & Auckland player Akira) returns, after a hamstring injury forced him out of the Eden Park test.

Noah Lolesio and Irae Simone are named in the starting 15 (Replacing both injured players James O'Connor & Matt To'omua), while both Reds players Tate McDermott & Fraser McReight will make their debuts off the bench, replacing Waratahs halfback Jake Gordon & Reds loose forward Liam Wright respectively. Allan Alaalatoa (Son of Samoan rugby player Vili (Who named his son Allan who Vili was a cricket fan after the successful Australian cricketer Allan Border (AB) & brother of Samoan international Michael (Who plays for both the Crusaders in Super Rugby Aotearoa & Manawatu in the Mitre 10 Cup) is the only change to the pack and he comes in for Taniela Tupou (The Tongan Thor who went to Sacred Heart School in Auckland & scored a hat trick of tries during a 1st XV rugby game before moving to Australia where he is playing rugby there (He was eligible in late 2017 to play for Australia).

Injuries to Matt To’omua and James O’Connor have forced Rennie's hand somewhat. Noah Lolesio will start at first-five for O'Connor, while Irae Simone comes in at second-five for To'omua and Dane Haylett-Petty (South African born player & brother of Melbourne Rebel Ross) comes in for Tom Banks at fullback.

Australia have a lot of experience on the bench, with Scott Sio (Son of Samoan rugby player Tavita or David (His anglicized name) who has named after him after the rugby playing nation of Scotland), Rob Simmons and Reece Hodge all have played over 40 tests.

New Zealand doesn’t have the strongest record in Australia, winning only 61 percent of their matches and at Stadium Australia, only 58 percent.

The All Blacks have dominated the Wallabies over the last 10 years, winning 19 of last 25 matches since the 2011 Rugby World Cup, with the Wallabies only recording three wins in that period.

Last five encounters:

2020: 27–7 All Blacks - Eden Park, Auckland

2020: 16-16 draw - Sky Stadium, Wellington

2019: 36–0 All Blacks - Eden Park, Auckland

2019: 47–26 Australia - Optus Stadium, Perth

2018: 37–20 All Blacks - Nissan Stadium, Yokohama, Japan

Confidence is growing in Australia with former Wallabies fullback Matthew Burke predicting a tight win for the Aussies.

"If you can keep New Zealand to 16 points or less, you go well in the game, so defence will be the key tonight," Burke tells Newshub.

"We are all Aussies now. Whether there was a separation or disconnect the last couple of years, certainly now what we are seeing is everyone is connecting incredibly well."

After a turbulent day of weather in Sydney, with lighting, rain and sun, showers will welcome the players in Sydney so we could be in for a battle between the forward packs.

New Zealand referee Ben O'Keefe will be in the man in the middle for this test match.

Australia have won the toss and will kick off.

Sam Cane and Michael Hooper have led their sides out onto a wet Stadium Australia field. Australia are wearing their indigenous jerseys.

The All Blacks are unleashing 'Kapo o Pango' - their 'A' haka - they mean business tonight (Australia were in the boomerang formation during the AB's haka).

What a half from the All Blacks who have put Wallabies to the sword, scoring 4 tries through Coles, Tu'inukuafe and a double for Mo'unga. It was a near-perfect 1st half and the All Blacks unlucky not have to have 3 more tries, with 2 ruled out and Goodhue bombing a certain try.

SECOND HALF: All Blacks get us back underway through Mo'unga.

42ND MINUTE, TRY WALLABIES: Lolesio Australia gathers kickoff well before White puts up midfield bomb. All Blacks gather but Smith knocks on.

65TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), PENALTY: Wallabies attacking just short of the line, but Sam Cane wins a breakdown penalty to halt Wallabies momentum.

67TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), SCRUM: Perenara puts up a bomb in midfield, which Laumape gathers and his offloads is knocked on by Australia.

Crowd attendance: 26,000 (Well, that is due to COVID-19 guidelines but there are 3 simple rules in place during the pandemic such as social distancing, face mask wearing & hand washing)

SUBSTITUTION: Rieko Ioane on for Beauden Barrett

68TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): From the scrum, Laumape makes strong run before All Blacks put a grubber in. Wallabies start their attack on halfway before McDermott knocks on.

74TH MINUTE (3 MINUTES LATER), TRY ALL BLACKS & CONVERSION: Jordie Barrett - Wallabies knock the ball on around halfway. A short pass from Mo'unga to Jordie Barrett puts him in a massive hole and he runs 45m to score under the posts. Mo'unga converts the try. 43-5 ALL BLACKS

76TH MINUTE (2 MINUTES LATER), SCRUM: Wallabies win kick-off back, start attacking in All Blacks half and get inside 22m line. Wallabies are looking dangerous but Koroibete knocks on.

79TH MINUTE (3 MINUTES LATER), PENALTY & TMO REFERRAL: Frizell - With just a minute remaining Australia are attacking in their own half and win a penalty for a head high tackle. TMO looking at the tackle for a potential sin binning.

YELLOW CARD: Yellow card for Shannon Frizell for a high shot

80TH MINUTE (1 MINUTE LATER): Australia have a line out on All Blacks 22. The Wallabies are trying to finish with a flourish. After 14 phases, Koroibete loses control of the ball into touch when trying to score a 5 pointer in the corner.

WALLABIES (Lolesio try)

So that is my 371st blog of the year 2020 (MMXX) & my 31st of this year.

P.S. And it is one year on since the Siya Kolisi (AKA The self proclaimed rugby god) led South Africa (Who are not in the Rugby Championship (Which is now Tri Nations with Argentina, Australia & New Zealand participating this year & 1st in history minus South African involvement) since they were withdrawn) triumphed in last years Rugby World Cup in Japan against England (Coached by Australian Eddie Jones (Ex Brumbies, Wallaby & Japan coach) who was once known as the savior & the second city saint when England started winning under the tutelage of Jones & led by Owen Farrell (Son of a famous rugby league & union player, Andy (He is the current coach of the Ireland rugby team who took over from Joe Schmidt) in the final (The game changer of the match was Kyle Sinckler getting concussed by his own teammate Maro Itoje's elbow in the 2nd minute of the final & had to go straight off for an HIA (He never came back on the field as he automatically failed his head injury assessment) & what did the Springboks do after Sinckler left the field with a head knock? They totally dominated the match which resulted in a famous victory to win back the Rugby World Cup despite losing both hooker Bongi Mbonambi (Concussion) & lock Lood de Jager (Broken arm) through injuries sustained during the final (Both had to be replaced by reserve hooker Malcolm Marx & reserve lock Franco Mostert respectively) at Yokohama (Well, I told Pops before the game that Pops watched with Carole, I said to him that I'm not watching the final because the All Blacks (Who lost to England in the semifinal which haunted us of a historic three peat as well as the English (Who won their only Rugby World Cup in 2003 (The only northern hemisphere country to win rugby's holy grail which was led by English second rower Martin Johnson) to add with their triumphs when the Alf Ramsey coached England won the Soccer World Cup in 1966 (They beat Germany (It was West Germany at the time) with unlikely hero Geoff Hurst scoring a hat-trick of goals in the final (Then in 1970 when the English were defending world champions at the time in the quarterfinal when the soccer world cup was held in Mexico that England led 2 - 0 during the match until the West Germans came back strong by scoring 3 unanswered goals that resulted in England getting knocked out of the soccer world cup after that quarterfinal match had ended so West Germany managed to survive with a come from behind win to advance to the semifinal (And in 2018 Belgium managed to repeat that feat as Japan led 2 - 0 during the game then the Belgians did a West Germany by knocking the Japanese out of the soccer world cup in the round of 16 match to go through to the quarterfinal) & the Cricket World Cup last year (They beat New Zealand in the super over in the final as a result of the boundary count back rule which cost us a chance of winning the Cricket World Cup while Christchurch born Ben Stokes was the hero for the Australian born Trevor Bayliss coached England after being awarded player of the game honors) came there & spoiled our party to win a hat trick of Rugby World Cups) are not in it) just because the Springboks (Once coached by former Free State, Golden Lions, Cats, Stormers & Springbok rugby player Rassie Erasmus (The 3rd Springbok coach after the late Kitch Christie & Jake White to win the Rugby World Cup for South Africa) who was the mastermind of South Africa's key to success last year) were on a redemption mission to win a 3rd Rugby World Cup after their disappointing 2015 campaign (They went down to both Japan (Who famously beat them in an historic upset victory in Brighton dubbed as the miracle of Brighton with New Zealand born player playing for Japan, Karne Hesketh (Husband of former Black Fern, Carla Hohepa), went over for the corner & scored the winning try (That was the turning point of the match) in the pool games & New Zealand (In which we won the tournament (Our 3rd Rugby World Cup crown (The other successful campaigns for the AB's at the Rugby World Cup was in 1987 (When the tournament was held here in New Zealand & in Australia) & 2011 (Our country of New Zealand were the sole host of the tournament), both at Eden Park against France in the final) along with South Africa & our most recent triumph (The last major sporting triumph for our country was the America's Cup victory by Emirates Team New Zealand (Led by Australian born Glenn Ashby (Who was the skipper aboard the New Zealand yacht) & Peter Burling (Who was at the helm) against Oracle Team USA (Once the holders of the America's Cup from 2010 in which they beat Alinghi until 2017 in which they lost against Emirates Team New Zealand & hasn't competed ever since) led by Jimmy Spithill (Who is now the helmsman aboard the Luna Rossa yacht in next year's Prada Cup) in Bermuda in 2017 (The other triumphs were in 1995 (Led by Olympic gold medalist in Los Angeles way back in 1984, Russell Coutts) in San Diego against Stars & Stripes aboard the Young America yacht led by Dennis Conner (With Paul Cayard at the helm) & 2000 on home soil in Auckland (Led by Coutts (Who had to join Swiss syndicate Alinghi (Which won the America's Cup in 2003 against Team New Zealand & successfully defended it in 2007 in Valencia against Emirates Team New Zealand & lost the Auld Mug to Oracle in 2010 & hasn't competed ever since along with Oracle) along with Brad Butterworth after our successful America's Cup defence in 2000) again just like in 1995 although Dean Barker (Future American Magic helmsman) was the backup helmsman who raced in race 5 of America's Cup 2000) against the Prada Luna Rossa Challenge of Italy led by Francesco de Angelis (The only non English speaking skipper to win the Louis Vuitton Cup (Now Prada Cup) after our victory in the final against our trans-Tasman rivals the Wallabies (World champions in 1991 & 1999 led by Nick Farr-Jones & John Eales respectively) at Twickenham (The home of English rugby) in London when the tournament was held in England (With some matches being played in Wales) in the semifinal before finishing 3rd when they beat Argentina in the 3rd & 4th place playoff (And after the All Blacks won the tournament in 2015, many people thought that Kolisi would be the next Rugby World Cup winning captain in Japan last year after Richie McCaw (And they did, they successfully did following the footsteps of other Rugby World Cup winning captains for the Springboks such as Francois Pienaar back in 1995 & John Smit of course in 2007 (4 years before McCaw (One of 2 All Blacks captains to have lifted the famous William Webb Ellis trophy along with David Kirk (Who was the 3rd choice All Black skipper going into the inaugural Rugby World Cup after injuries to both the late Jock Hobbs (Who ended his rugby career with a serious head knock) & Andy Dalton (Who tore a hamstring just before the tournament started) in 1987 (Our campaign started in the pool games against Italy at Eden Park in Auckland in which All Black winger John Kirwan scored an all time length of the field try just carving the opposition apart (The game started with a penalty try then Michael Jones scoring the 1st try of the Rugby World Cup) then we thrashed Fiji in Christchurch with both John Gallagher & Craig Green scoring 4 tries each before we took on Argentina & won including Zinzan Brooke making his test debut for New Zealand at the old Athletic Park (Which was replaced by Wellington Regional Stadium (Used to be WestpacTrust Stadium then Westpac Stadium & now called Sky Stadium) since it opened in 2000) in Wellington then it was quarterfinal time as we tore the Scots apart packing as many scrums as they can before facing Wales (Who had lost Huw Richards due to a sending off for punching an opponent then Buck Shelford retaliated by taking out Richards but was lucky not to be sent from the field (He would've been sent off as well should today's modern video technology replays be available) in the semi in which we trounced them before we took on France in the final at Eden Park in Auckland (Including tries by star performers Michael Jones, captain David Kirk (Who famously lifted the trophy after the final in 1987) & John Kirwan as well as a conversion, 4 penalties & a drop goal by Grant Fox (Father of famous New Zealand golfer Ryan) in which we famously took victory to win our 1st of 3 Rugby World Cups) who was the twice Rugby World Cup winning captain for the AB's in both 2011 (He had nursed a foot injury during the entire tournament while one of his All Black teammates Dan Carter had injured his groin before the last pool game against Canada & was ruled out of the rest of the 2011 Rugby World Cup (He didn't play in the final (He had been replaced by Aaron Cruden who was called up instead of Stephen Donald (Who was the standout performer for the All Blacks in the 2011 Rugby World Cup final when he kicked the winning penalty goal which was the game changer of the match in the final & won our 1st RWC title in 24 years but man of the match went to Cote D'Ivorian born French captain Thierry Dusautoir for his heroics including scoring a try which put France back into the game but it wasn't to be) due to what looks to be a serious groin injury (Same injury that Colin Slade (He was replaced by Beaver (Donald) who called up to the All Blacks whilst on a white baiting mission after being dropped by the AB's before the friendly against Fiji as well as the 2011 Tri Nations campaign & the 2011 RWC due to his nightmare Bledisloe Cup performance against the Wallabies in Hong Kong in 2010 (And I mean what went wrong for him? Well, to start with after Daniel Carter had gone off the field as an injury precaution, they brought Donald on the park & when the 80 minutes is up, Donald cleared a kick to put it out but it didn't or should I say failed to go into touch allowing Australia to capitalize & score a try all the way on the counter attack straight to the try line then a Wallaby kicked the goal to deny the AB's a clean sweep in the 2010 Bledisloe Cup series) had in the quarterfinal against Argentina) & 2015 (Our 2015 campaign began in a one off test against Samoa which resulted in a win in Apia in front of 8,000 people followed by taking on Argentina in the opening Rugby Championship match in Christchurch with another victory then we wiped South Africa out in Johannesburg (Including that match winning try scored by Richie McCaw thought that it was an illegal maneuver) before the Wallabies ended our hopes of defending the Rugby Championship in Sydney with a loss (The last time Richie McCaw tasted defeat in his test rugby career as both a player & captain of the All Blacks) then we did exact revenge against Australia at the garden of Eden in Auckland in our final Bledisloe Cup test of the year in 2015 as well as a pre-Rugby World Cup test before going to England to retain the Rugby World Cup (Our opening match was against Argentina in a hard fought win (Including both tries scored by currently the best halfback in world rugby, Aaron Smith & future All Blacks skipper Sam Cane) at Wembley Stadium in London despite a yellow card by our AB's captain Richie McCaw for a foot trip of an Argentinian player followed by Conrad Smith for going off his feet in a ruck who had joined McCaw just before halftime to spend 10 minutes in the bin during the 1st half before we followed up with another victory by thrashing Namibia at London Stadium then we took victory against Georgia at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in our 1st meeting between the 2 nations in rugby (Including Fijian born Whanganui City College old boy, former Whanganui, Taranaki, Highlanders, All Black & current London Irish player Waisake Naholo scoring a beautiful opening try after returning from a serious injury sustained in the Rugby Championship opener against Argentina in Christchurch in 2015) before we put Tonga to the sword at St James Park in Newcastle upon Tyne to top the pool then it's quarterfinal time as we thrash France in Cardiff (It was revenge of 2007 that France beat us including that try had been scored by the French after referee Wayne Barnes missed an obvious forward pass which cost us a chance of reaching the semi as well as our chances of winning the Rugby World Cup) including a hat-trick of tries by Julian Savea in the quarterfinal before we took on the Springboks in the semifinal at England's home of rugby union, Twickenham (AKA Twickers) in which we won by 2 points in a close encounter then the final at the same ground at Twickenham in which we took on the Wallabies & beat them (Including both conversions, 4 penalty goals & a dropped goal to man of the match DC (Carter) as well as tries scored by Nehe Milner-Skudder, Ma'a Nonu & Beauden Barrett (Who sealed the deal to win our 3rd RWC crown which was the turning point of the game in the final) despite the yellow card to Ben Smith (1st & only yellow card in the RWC final) as a result of a lifting tackle on a Wallaby player) 34 points to 17 to complete a successful defence of the Rugby World Cup (Our 1st Rugby World Cup title outside New Zealand (And the headlines will probably say: THE RUGBY WORLD CUP, IS STILL, NEW ZEALAND'S CUP) in Japan & what was their mission? They had to win back the Rugby World Cup (That was their main goal to achieve for the Springboks by mastering or should I say perfecting the art of the sport of rugby union for the 3rd time (1st it was 1995 against the All Blacks (Led by Sean Fitzpatrick featuring the late Jonah Lomu (Who was world rugby's 1st true global superstar) in the final on home soil at Ellis Park in Johannesburg (Including that match winning drop goal at extra time by Springbok first five Joel Stransky which broke our Kiwi hearts) then 2007 against England in the final at the Stade de France in St Denis in France & last year of course against the same opponent which is the English in the final just like in 2007 at Yokohama International Stadium in Yokohama, Japan) & they did just that meaning that their mission had been accomplished (The headlines will probably say: THE FAMOUS WILLIAM WEBB ELLIS CUP, RETURNS TO SOUTH AFRICA).

And Carole told me at Caroline's that the movie world is in mourning with James Bond actor Sean Connery (Who last appeared in a film released in 2003 which is The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen), has passed away aged 90 (Rest In Peace (RIP) Sean, he is gone but now forgotten).
